Next Step Home Education
Home Education offers parents who are seeking to home school their children two alternatives. Our school is dedicated to helping parents/students discover, develop and maximize student potential. This is achieved through two basic options:
Centre for Educational Alternatives (CEA) provides educational choices to meet a wide range of student needs. We support students who are seeking non-traditional education programs and who desire to complete most of their work at home. Staff members offer guidance and encouragement to help parents and students set educational goals. We make learning convenient with flexible completion schedules. Older students are encouraged to take an active role in setting up and monitoring their own program and progress. Certificated teachers develop student programs, assess student work on an ongoing basis, provide feedback/support, and evaluate student work. Our school focuses on core curriculum.
Traditional Home Education option recognizes the central role of parents in the education of their children. The most fundamental characteristic of a traditional home education program relates to responsibility for supervision and instruction. When you opt for a home education program for your child, you have the responsibility of planning, supervising and administering your child's education program. Either you or someone you have selected will deliver the program to the student at home. A certificated liaison teacher will review your child's program and progress with a minimum of two visits per school year.
