Registration

Registering for the 2021-2022 School Year - ALL STUDENTS!

Please Note:

High school students wishing to enroll full time at Next Step prior to September 30th do not need designated school approval. 

In order to ensure a spot, ALL students, including high school students who are intending to upgrade at any point during the school year, must register with Next Step prior to September 30th. 

After September 30th, high school students shall require a referral to attend Next Step from the school at which they are registered.

Students may only register with Next Step - Sherwood Park if you have not earned your high school diploma and are younger than 19 as of September 1, 2021.  


To start the intake process:

1. Complete the intent to register form by clicking on the applicable button below:

2. Once we have your information we will get back to you by phone or email after August 23rd, 2021 so please make sure to put the correct contact information in the form otherwise we will not be able to reach you. Please be aware that you may need to wait a minimum of 3 days to receive a response due to the expected high volume at this time of year.

3. When you are contacted we will book an intake appointment for you to meet with an assistant principal.

What You Need for Registering

New Students (to EIPS - attending Next Step Full-Time)

STEP 1: Fill out the intake form above

STEP 2: Set up an intake appointment when the school contacts you in late August

STEP 3: Bring a birth certificate or other legal document to verify your birth date when you attend the intake meeting. 

NOTE: If you are under the age of 18 please attend the intake meeting with someone who is eligible to sign any forms required (parent and/or guardian).  


Returning Students (current EIPS students - attending Next Step Full-Time)

STEP 1: Fill out the intake form above

STEP 2: Set up an intake appointment when the school contacts you in late August

STEP 3: Attend your intake meeting with a parent and/or guardian (if you are under 18)


Shared Student Registrations (EIPS students attending another high school Full-Time)

Shared Student registrations require the knowledge and cooperation of the school you are registered at. In order to register at Next Step as a Shared student, you need to: 

STEP 1: Talk to your Counselor or an Administrator at your primary school.

Fees

Next Step does not charge course fees (except in the case of mature students - see below).  Any textbook resources assigned to a student are to be returned once a course is completed.  If the textbook is not returned a replacement fee will be charged to the student account.

Refund Policy

Mature Students 
(Over 20 years of age before September 1 of the current school year) 

  • $705.00 per 5-credit course, which includes an $80.00 non refundable fee plus a $125.00 refundable book deposit
  • If a student withdraws within the first week of registration, 50 per cent of the amount paid will be refunded.
  • After the first week, no refund will be issued.
  • Provided all books are returned as per policy, the text deposit will be added to the refund amount above.
