NSO News Sept 2-12

Hey all, we hope everyone had a wonderful and restful long weekend! Check out all the latest edition of NSO News Sept 2-12

Welcome to another exciting school year at Next Step! As we begin this journey together, we want to highlight the heart of our work; flexible programming that is rooted in strong, supportive relationships. Every learner who walks through our doors comes with unique strengths, needs, and goals. At Next Step, we recognize that success looks different for each student, and our commitment is to provide personalized pathways while ensuring that every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

Our motto, “small steps are still progress,” reminds us that growth is not always linear, but with the right supports and connections, each step forward matters. Building strong relationships between students, families, and staff remains central to everything we do.

We are also proud to share highlights from our Alberta Education Assurance Data, a reflection of our school community’s voice and experiences:

  • 99% of students report being proud to attend Next Step Outreach (83% strongly agree, 16% agree).
  • 100% of students would recommend our school to a friend (91% strongly agree, 9% agree).
  • 93.1% of students, parents, and staff believe our school has improved or stayed the same over the past three years — well above the provincial average of 76.6%.

These results celebrate the collective effort of our dedicated staff, supportive families, and resilient learners. They affirm that we are moving in the right direction while staying true to our mission of creating a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.

As we look ahead, we are excited to continue walking alongside your child, ensuring they feel supported to take risks, grow, and thrive. Together, we will make this year one filled with connection, perseverance, and achievement.

With appreciation,

Assistant Principal Mrs. D. Bennett (Sherwood Park & Vegreville campus), Assistant Principal Mr. R. Davies (Fort Saskatchewan campus) & Principal Mr. B. Spady
