We hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Monday is instructional day #15 of 83 for semester 2 or 18% complete. Reminder Friday there is no school for students as staff have Professional Learning. Tuesday, February 27 is our next hybrid School Advisory Council at 6 p.m.
February 26-29 is Kindness week at Next Step. Throughout the week we will be engaging students in several activities linked to spreading kindness in our community. As Maya Angelou best said, “It takes courage to be kind.” It is our hope to instill and spread kindness to those around us.
Pink Shirt Day falls on the last Wednesday of February every year (Feb 28); in the mission to create a more kind, inclusive world by raising awareness and funds for anti-bullying initiatives. Pink Shirt Day has humble beginnings. Inspired by an act of kindness in small-town Nova Scotia, where David Shepherd, Travis Price and their teenage friends organized a high-school protest to wear pink in sympathy with a Grade 9 boy who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt…They took a stand against bullying when they protested against the harassment of a new student by distributing pink T-shirts to all the boys in their school. As such, all students and staff are encouraged to wear pink on Wednesday, Feb 28. If you require a pink shirt, we do have Next Step gear available.
